camping in Bishop

Left Thursday afternoon hoping that the kids would be asleep for their nap most of the way. Well, the boys, Peter and Nathan did most of the way. Kara only part way. Grandpa drove all the way, don't think he trusts Marek to drive it safely:<))
We camped at the Pinions, above the Gorge. Boy was it cold and windy, luckily we had the RV and not tent camping. The kids got to sit around the campfire for a bit. Peter was scared of the fire and held on to anybody close. Kara and Nathan enjoyed the marshmallows.
First night was rough- I couldn't actually sleep. Don't know if it was the pain of the knee or the howling winds or the RV being shaken by the wind :>(( The kids woke up a couple of times.

Friday morning- Kara and Nathan ate oatmeal and Peter is usual of baby cereal and fruit. Mom made eggs and bacon and hashbrown- yum. Bill O. picked Marek to go climbing in the Gorge. Dad, Mom, the kids and I parked at the lower Gorge entrance and biked, walked and pushed the stroller.

Grandpa and Grandma did most of the work since I was mostly limping with a leg brace on.

We did get the kids to take a nap at where we were eating. Mom and Dad went for more biking while I watched the kids sleep. It was still windy Friday night, but I did get to sleep some. The kids were out because of all the hiking and the sun.

Saturday: We weren't sure if we could do the Keough Hot spring because it was so windy in the morning. The Hot spring was open, so we decided to take a chance. It wasn't so bad. Suprisingly there were alot of people there. Got Peter to take a nap while the other two just went to the pool and play.

After his nap, he was able to go to the pool also. I went to the pool with braces and all!!

Kara had a great time jumping into the pool. Nathan was still a bit scared.

The hot pool felt pretty good on the knee. After the pool we camped at the Pinions again. Everybody was pretty wiped out from playing in the pool. Nathan fell asleep before dinner, so we let him have a little nap. Both he and Kara didn't take a nap because they wanted to stay and play in the pool!!! After a half hour nap we woke him up for dinner. He then went right to bed after dinner :<0) Kara didn't take long after dinner to go to sleep either.

Sunday: Marek went climbing with Adrian and his 5 year old daughter. The grandparents and the kids did a little hiking while I hung around the camper, wanted to rest the knee.

Went home, get ready to go back to work after taking three weeks off for the knee recovery YEAH :>((

Knee recovery

There were 7 stitches on the vertical cut and three stitches on the horizontal cut. The doctor was able to repair the minicus by using two stitches- reason for the no weight bearing for a while.

12 hours after the surgery thats when the anesthesia wore off, i experience the worst possible pain i have ever felt next to labor pains. This lasted for almost 5 hrs and the pain killers didn’t do any good. After that things have been much much better.

It's been 3 weeks since the surgery. I'm still not back at work- requested an additional week off. It's been very painful without the pain killers especially at night when I'm asleep. Been working with a PT two days a week and own exercises at home.

Finally off the crutches and able to walk with just the brace straight leg. No weight bearing on bended knees allow.

Poor Husband has to help out alot since I've been on the crutches. Would of been a worse recovery without his help:<))
